These are the ladies who fell in love with yoga in Singapore. I first met them at CASA SANTOSA, where I taught Yin for the first 2 years here. We’ve been good friends ever since, who not only practice yoga together but also just simply enjoy each other’s company in our lives in this city-state.
We expatriate wives would all eventually go home one by one, but I know yoga and smiles will keep us tight wherever we are.
The Singapore Yoga Club
That’s what they call themselves. They all enjoy both yin and yang styles of yoga with no bias or fixation. It’s a group of yoga practitioners who are as well balanced as a taijitu. Though each of them personally favors certain classes over the others, they are all pursuing the same thing in yoga: to connect with their own bodies to achieve better health and more spaciousness of their hearts.
In the photo are Lynn and Sumei, who own Space and Light Yoga, the Yoga Club and me after a yin yoga class. A lovely scene from my yoga life in Singapore.
Life sure brings us unexpected things. I used to come to Singapore often on business in my 30s, but had never thought I would be doing this much yoga here. Meeting Victor is one thing, and reconnecting with Lynn is another. I’d once met Lynn in Hong Kong before moving here, when she was assisting Martin Kirk in his class. We may be mystically wired with people we are supposed to connect in life.
