Loosening Up Your Mind to Change Your Body

IMG_4118

Peggy, the former owner of CASA SANTOSA and I had a farewell party at Gordon Ramsay in Marina Bay Sands (MBS) for my photographer Kyoko, who is going home at the end of this month. We talked and talked with endless laughs, but the course of our conversation naturally flowed into yoga talks in this yogic gathering.

I nodded a strong yes all over again to what Peggy said. When we teach, we see a lot.

How you practice on the mat reveals your true nature.

It does. It’s a fact. (^^)

Seeing where you are physically blocked can give us teachers insights into the emotional state you are in or what kind of lifestyle you have.

And another set of words of wisdom for you.

If you want to change your body, you have to change your mind.

The state of your mind is the state of your body. That is why it’s crucial we give ourselves time to let our guards down and relax. When your body loosens up, your mind does the same. When you can soften yourself, you can do the same for others. I believe that’s a necessary faculty for a yoga teacher.

Tonight, I blended clary sage and neroli to lightly massage my chest. My busy mind dissolved. Good night.
